In partnership with the STA this course is designed to train poolside helpers and swimming teachers in pool rescue skills, CPR techniques, first aid and to be competent to deal with poolside emergencies in accordance with section 165 of ‘Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools’.
Duration
This course is currently run on 4 half day sessions, or 2 full day (depending on prior learning) and is delivered by STA qualified tutors and examiners.
The cost of the course starts at £80 and is fully inclusive of materials, equipment, course literature, training, examinations and certification. The qualification is valid for 2 years.
NaRS Poolside Helper entry requirements
Candidates must:
• Be 14 years of age, or older, at the time of the examination.
• Pay the requisite registration fee to the STA.
• Attend a course of instruction for a minimum of 13 hours; this includes the Aquatic Rescue Foundation Unit. (Where candidates do not have prior learning and have not undertaken prior reading and completed ARFU worksheets prior to the course then the minimum time will be 14 hours).
